May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always be at your back;
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
In this piece, a lyrical melodic line is accompanied throughout by a moving-quarter-note countermelody with continuous suspensions and resolutions, creating rich harmonies. Instrument textures are varied, and transitions/modulations from keys of concert Bb to Eb to F add interest. This is a very playable Grade 2 piece with lots of opportunities for musical expression.
